Offered is a fabulous U.S. model 1833 foot artillery sword in antique condition. The following are the specifications of this stunning antique sword: Broad, straight 19 inch double edge blade with three fullers and marked on either side US/8. Gilt brass hilt of regulation pattern but without the three iron rivets, the guard marked on either side 8 US A. Gilt brass-mounted black leather scabbard, the throat stamped twice 8 and with inspection mark WAT on the drag finial for William A. Thornton, reverse of finial stamped T (or J) H. Condition: Blade with some minor pitting. Hilt and scabbard mounts retain much gilt finish. Leather with minor surface cracking. Note: It has been suggested that this variation is a Civil War era import by Horstmann & Sons of Philadelphia. We will gladly consider any reasonable offers as well.
