This Lefever H shoots like a champ. It’s hard to find hundred year old guns with symmetrical wear patterns. The 28” uncut Damascus barrels have 2 ¾” chambers with extractors. Right choke IC, left F. The barrels are in beautiful original condition. Bores are bright. The receiver has nice patina with little to no case coloring. The lock plates retain about 50% case color. The finish is all original with very symmetrical wear, like a well cared for honest field gun should look like after a hundred years. Grip cap and butt plate are original. LOP 14" DAC 1 3/4” DAH 3” neutral cast. Action locks up like a vault, is tight to the stock and the barrels are on face and ring like chimes. This gun should hold its own at any vintage SxS shooting event. Great piece of American history. $1795 trozzo51@yahoo.com At the turn of the 20th century, I was told that a SxS shotgun on a variety store shelf cost $5. A Lefever SxS cost $75. DM Lefever was a no compromise master gun maker. It’s reasonable to assume that buyers at that time with the money to buy a Lefever were likely to keep them clean and maintained and take very good care of them. This appears to hold true based on the condition of the several Lefevers that I have acquired. I say that for the original owners. But shotguns this old have gone through three generations and I think subsequent owners maybe did not keep the guns up to par and as such there a many run down Lefevers out there. The cherry guns are as tight as the day they left the factory. They are harder to find and worth a premium to collectors. Speaking for myself, of all the shotguns I shoot, the Lefever SxS out performs everything. The balance, feel and shootability allow me to hit the clays so well, that I really don’t shoot anything other than the Lefevers now.
