This is an interesting Springfield Armory M1 Garand. The ser# is 4227415.,p> Marlin barrels were used on Springfield Armory M1 Garands between ser# 4,2xx,xxx and 4,3xx,xxx. Marlin made barrels for M1 Garands for WWII, but most of these were rejected. They also produced barrels after WWII.

This is barrel is a blued WWII production barrel with the numbers and name on the top, the letter P on the side, and the flaming bomb on the bottom. The chamber is bright, so it has not been refinished.I believe this was one of the good ones.

The throat/chamber measures out 2 of 10

The muzzle measures 1.5 out of 3.

The serial number dates this to 1953, and it may have been used late in the Korean war.

This gun has a mix of WWII and post war parts.

Bolt: 652827-SA J-I-A Post WWII

rear sight: windage knob DRC, elevation knob NHC

Front sight; Ears 5/8" WWII

Lock plug is WWII, and the lock screw is marked P O

Op rod: D35382 6 SA , WWII

Trigger housing: D28290-12-SA WWII

Trigger guard: stamped, milled hook

Hammer: C46008-5 SA WWII

Safety: 11 WWII

Sling: Marked US over MRT

Stock: Walnut-Marked P in a square, and RRAD on the left side of the butt stock. These are the marks of the Red River Army Depot, located near Texarkana,TX. They were known to be one of the places (Arsenal/Armory)that refurbished M1 Garands for the military. The stock has been there, but we do not know if the rest of the gun was there.

This would make a fine shooting gun.
