This is a model 1889 Glisenti Revovler. Double Action, loaded through the gate on the side. Folding trigger. These weapons were made in small shops and will be found in many different configurations. This particular revolver is dated 1917. On the left side – in front of the cylinder it is stamped MIDA and then G.A. Casteli Brescia. The caliber of this revolver is a 10.35 mm. They were manufactured through WW II. I was told this was brought back from WW II. I have no proof of that. On the right side of the revolver is the serial number Z4287. There is also a stamp in an oval or circle with the letters RP or RF. It is stamped incomplete. The handgun functions well, locks up very tight. I have not shot it, as I do not know where one would find ammo. The whole gun has turned a pleasing patina. The wood grips are in good condition. The lanyard ring is missing. Truly in my years of collecting I have only seen one or two others of these. Perhaps I just was not looking hard enough. But they were not made in great numbers and they are a ture WW II relic.
