***COLTS FINE ENGRAVED FIREARMS COLLECTORS*** I proudly present an iconic "FIRST GENERATION" 1957 Colt Python .357 Magnum/.38 Spcl Revolver; serial number "1962". That's CORRECT; it's an early Third Year Production - "4" Digit Serial Number. Also included is a Colt Archive Letter; validating a "one gun" shipment on February 14, 1957 to Lytles Sporting Goods Store in Enid, Oklahoma. 100% Factory original and rated at 95% prior to Engraving! Folk's, this Python has Colt's Firearms Master Gunsmith & Designer Albert "Maestro" Al DeJohn's DNA all over it! ***HISTORICALLY: During the first few years of Colt's Python Production, from 1955 through 1959, only Al DeJohn and one other Colt's Gunsmith were allowed to final assemble and test (virtually hand-make) each Colt PYTHON Revolver. It is well known, in the Collecting World - prior to the development of the Japanese Mori Seiki CNC-Computer Tape Machine in 1964, that there were over 300 Human-Hand Operations required to complete the final manufacturing processes; final assembly & test production of each iconic Colt Python Revolver! This very Rare 4-Digit S/N Python is D+ Master Engraved by Robert B. Valade-Seaside, Oregon; in the equally iconic 19th Century "American Scroll" Motif. Beautifully displayed in a solid Cherry Wood Laser Engraved Presentation Case! The Case has a French-Fit Red interior for the Python, a Texas Dug Indian Arrowhead and a .357 Bullet Block. Letters of Provenance are included for the Master Engraving and Master Gunsmith final polish, re-blue, reassembly and Test! Prior to Engraving, this Second Year First Generation "SNAKE" was rated at 95% overall condition. As evidenced by its almost pristine full-checkered Colt's Walnut Target Grip Set and very little evidence of ever being fired after Factory Test-Fire! Master Engraver "VALADE" signed his Hand Hammered & Chiseled Engraved and artistic masterpiece on the flat of the Cylinder Crane; as shown in the several close-up photos! C&R FFL eligible or a copy of your Designated FFL Holder's License must accompany your timely Payment! ***Shipping Cost includes insurance***. ***BIDDERS*** I have been asked several questions and asked to further clarify some statements! 1. Who was Colt's Master Gunsmith-Al DeJohn? He was a WW-II Veteran and Colt's employee from 1944 - 1989. Al was a Designer & Master Gunsmith; who eventually became Colt's Custom Shop Manager from 1969-1989; responsible for all factory Engraved Firearms. Al passed away in 2012! Al was intimately involved in 1955 with the in-situ Design, Testing and Production of the COLT PYTHON REVOLVER. Al and one other Colt employee, were the only people Colt's Upper Management trusted, to virtually "Hand-Build" each Python for the first few years of initial production! 2. Yes; I can provide for a non-interest Lay Away Payment Plan for up to Six Months. 3. Sorry, NO I am not amenable to any type Trade at this time. ***BIDDERS*** QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: 1. Yes, of course the Barrel has the "Hollow" Under Lug! 2. I do not know the complete History of this Python; but I assume from the lack of wear on the Colt and Grip Set, and minimal evidence of firing; that it could have been a LEO carried Firearm. (Colt Pythons were a favored Law Enforcement Officer Duty Weapon Firearm for many years!) Or just a fine firearms Collector who never used the Python. 3. Yes, it was a perfect candidate for a Master Engraving Project! And as I have previously stated; prior to engraving it was rated @ 95% overall condition.

***VERY SAD NEWS*** Master Engraver Robert B. Valade has passed away! His wife Joann called me this morning to tell me this news. Bob suffered a debilitating Stroke early this Summer; continuously had Mini-Strokes and serious boughts with depression. Folk's, there will never be another Valade Master Engraved Firearm produced!

***BIDDERS*** I forgot that I had commissioned Master Engraver "VALADE" to also "D" Engrave a spare MINT 4" vintage Python Barrel for this Set. It recently arrived from his wife Joann, fully "D" Engraved, along with eight other "unengraved" Colt Firearms that I Commissioned Bob to Engrave. These Firearms were not completed and the 4" Barrel will be included! The Barrel is also "American Scroll" Engraved & signed.

***BIDDERS*** I have added new photos of the "Valade" "D" Master Engraved 4" Python Barrel to this GB Auction Listing. These new photos are now shown from photo's #37 through #56.
