WWII, Japanese NCO's Samurai Sword with Scabbard and Leather Cover

This is an original, WWII, Japanese NCO's Sword made in the style of the Samurai Sword. Included is its original steel scabbard and leather scabbard cover. This is a wartime production sword with a cast brass grip and serial numbered blade. There are some interesting markings on the blade. The left ricasso has a pair of crossed flags with Japanese characters. The right ricasso has aline of Japanese characters extending back from the serial number. The sword is in very good to fine condition. The blade remains mostly bright with a few small spots of corrosion. The grip has aged to a nice dark bronze patina. It is secured with a screw rather than a pin. The scabbard is in very good condition as well. There are no dents. The leather cover is complete and has been oiled at some time. It is quite tight fitting. The iron scabbard beneath will almost certainly have some rusting of the surface. Leather attracts moisture and this has been under leather since WWII. This is a nice example of a Japanese NCO's Sword with interesting markings.
