Reproduction Hydra-Matic U.S. Government Property Vietnam 80% Lower Receiver

When you think of GM you think of cars, not rifles. But GM’s Hydra-Matic division played a big part in manufacturing the M-16 – the most widely used infantry weapon in the history of the U.S. military. Hydra-Matic shipped the 100,000th rifle to the Army in September of 1969, two months ahead of the required schedule. A year later the company had delivered another 140,000 rifles. The company was awarded a second contract and eventually the tally hit 469,217 M16A1s provided to the Pentagon. The M-16 underwent additional improvements in the years that followed, but arguably, Hydra-Matic gave the weapon what it needed to become the icon of military hardware that it is today.

Our research indicates that the Pentagon assigned Hydra-Matic the entire 3,xxx,xxx serial number range and Hydra-Matic made 469,217 M16A1's. Therefore, the serial number of this reproduction is between 3,469,218 and 3,999,999.

This is a brand new modern U.S. made reinforced full-fence premium forged 7075 T-6 aluminum AR-15 80% lower receiver. Machined to mil-spec tolerances and mil-spec type III hard coat anodized. Precision CNC engraved (not painted....the engraving is bare aluminum) with reproduction retro rollmarks. This is mechanically a fully modern lower that’s made to be 100% fully compatible with standard modern AR-15 completion jigs and lower parts kits. It is a complete, ready to go lower receiver except that the fire control area is solid and uncompleted. You just need to drill the three holes and cut out the fire control area and trigger slot. Everything else is done. There are a number of good how-to videos on YouTube such as:

We can recommend this jig to complete this lower to 100%, and any standard lower parts kit such as this for your build.

As of the posting of this listing, there are still vintage original M16A1 parts kits available here.

For your convenience, we will also accept your personal check if you are a verified GB member with an established transaction history and don’t mind your check fully clearing our bank before we ship (about 14 days). Please add $7.15 for fast USPS Small Flat Rate Box Priority shipping and send your payment along with a copy of GB checkout invoice / auction summary so we have all your information and send you the correct item.
