I am offering a 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Cadet rifle in decent shape. The bore is bright and shiny and look great but does have a couple of pits in there. None look deep or really bad but they are there and the bore is not perfect. The cadet rifle was used by soldiers in training and normally fired the carbine cartridges because of the kids that were firing them. Carbine ammo has a reduced powder and bullet size. These rifles are lighter with a shorter barrel than the full size rifle. (3 inch shorter barrel) This rifle is in decent as issued condition and does not look to me to be messed with. The metal has worn blue and show signs of being refinished at some time in the past. The serial number is hard to read and also if not impossible to read the middle digit. There is some freckling but not bad and would clean very good. The stock is solid and I do not see any cracks. The stock does have a good amount of dings and dents. I do not see any cartouches but there are a few rack or unit marks. On the top of the wrist is 106 with 36 deeply stamped and the side of the butt has 96 stamped in. On the opposite side is a painted number 82. The rear sight is correct for the serial number it seems. Marked to 1 thru 4 on the right side and not marked R or C with the leaf marked to 1100. Decent rifle. I will not ship to all city and states even tho it is a antique. Know your laws. I will required a C&R or a FFL for those states. Shipping will be $40 because of the light and weight of the rifle insured. Personal checks delay shipping two weeks but are welcome.
