Magpul CTR Carbine Stock Mil-Spec Model (Compact/Type Restricted) is a replacement, adjustable buttstock for AR15/M16 carbines using mil-spec receiver buffer tubes. Designed for light, fast action the streamlined A-frame profile avoids snagging and shields the release latch to prevent accidental movement. The CTR buttstock adjustment range is 3.25 inches. Collapsed length is 10.7 inches and its extended length is 13.95 inches. The CTR also features a supplemental friction lock system that minimizes stock movement for enhanced weapon stability and an ambidextrous quick detach sling mount that will accept any push-button sling swivel such as the Magpul MS3 Single QD Multi-Mission Sling. The Mil-Spec Model includes a standard 0.30" rubber butt-pad which provides solid shoulder purchase.

There are two basic sizes of M4 Carbine receiver extensions (buffer tubes): mil-spec and commercial-spec. If you have a commercial-spec extension on your rifle, make sure to order the Magpul CTR Carbine Stock Commercial-Spec.
If you happen to have one of the uncommon military tubes with an extended slant-back, along with the Mil-Spec CTR you will also need to order the Extended Rubber Butt-Pad, 0.55" (sold separately).

One of the most frequent and important questions we receive here at Intense Tactical:
  • Question: How do I know what type of buffer tube I have?
  • Answer: Commercial spec buffer tubes generally have a slant at the end, unlike the milspec tubes' flat end. However, some manufacturers are making commercial tubes with flat ends. Therefore, a better way to tell the difference, is by looking at the outside diameter of the tube. Milspec tubes have a larger diameter threaded end than the rest of the tube. Commercial spec tubes are the same diameter down the entire tube.
