This is the third edition from the original texts of 1974 and 1982. Everything has been fine-tuned and dramatically expanded, making this offering by far the most illuminating and complete of all published editions. The two tomes contain over 1200 illustrations, of which more than two thirds are in color. A large amount of the images are also full-page and highly-detailed.

This set joins the author's other works -- The Book of Colt Firearms and Fine Colts -- in the pantheon of comprehensive and unequalled reference material on Colts.

Volume I covers the pre-Paterson, Paterson, and remaining periods through 1921 (the end of the Helfricht period). Volume II, spanning 1919 to 2000, begins with Kornbrath, goes to Glahn, and then documents Colt embellished firearms. The first volume has 525 pages, while the second volume is slightly larger at 883 pages. Both are in a large 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" vertical (portrait) format with a very well-written and comprehensive narrative.

Each book is personally signed by R. L. Wilson. Volume I autographed and numbered, while volume II is signed without a number.

Strictly limited to 3000 copies, this magnum opus on engraved Colts is a must-have for any Colt enthusiast.
