We are extremely pleased to offer for sale, on behalf of the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation, “D.B. Wesson’s Scrapbook”, as edited by the noted collector and current President of the S&W Collectors Association, Dave Ballantyne. An incredibly special collection of photos and memorabilia from the original scrapbook that Lt. Col Douglas B. Wesson kept as the .357 Magnum revolver was first being developed and put into production. The book is 157 pages of absolutely pure fascination and will be a valuable addition to the library of every Smith & Wesson collector and historical firearms enthusiast. It covers in intimate detail the progress made as Doug Wesson worked with the likes of Phil Sharpe, Elmer Keith and other shooters of the day, along with the ammunition manufacturers, on the new and powerful cartridge that would become the S&W .357 Magnum, the cartridge that revolutionized handgun shooting and hunting in the early 20th Century. Many of Doug Wesson’s personal and professional associations, interests and achievements are documented and photographed in the scrapbook, as well as an in-depth portrayal of the competitive shooters and theirs and Doug’s hunting adventures, including his famous trip to Alaska to test the new Magnum.. A truly wonderful and interesting book that provides a seldom seen and entirely unique perspective into the development and subsequent introduction of what is perhaps the most famous and popular handgun cartridge ever conceived as well as the man behind it. Truly a one-of-a-kind book!!
