I am offering a WWII German K98 coded 243 and dated 1939 with Lufwaffen air force "L" marked stock with most all matching number. The only parts that do not match are the complete stamped trigger guard assembly and the safety. My guess is its a late ware replacement for a damaged trigger guard. The guard screws match can you believe that. The trigger guard condition matches the metal condition on the rest of the gun. The metal is a mix of blue and brown but I see no rust or pitting. This rifle looks like it had a hard life and shows a good number of dings and dents. The hand guard is in two pieces and I have not repaired it. If your good at such a thing it should be made very presentable with the right glue job, It matches numbers as does the stock. I have never seen a gun that was in the state this one was when I got it. The front band spring was installed upside down with the ends under both bands and the front band backwards and driven down 3/4 inch past where it should have been. That why there is a shadow behind the front band on the left side. They scrapped some wood and the finish up driving it on. The butt stock does not have any cracks that I could detect. I don't think it was sanded at all ether. The marking for the most part are very visible but worn some. I see three in a row on the right side of the butt one of which is "L" marked. One in the grip area on the under side of the stock and at least one along with the serial number on the bottom. The butt plate matches along with the bayonet lug. The bore has strong lands and shows good with a bullet test at the muzzle but is a bit rough. Even at that I will give it a 7 out of ten on condition. It does have a shine. the pictures tell the rest of the story. This is a true German K98 that is not import marked or duffle bag cut. Looks to me to be all matching with replaced parts. Bubba had his hand on it for awhile (or was it Hans). Will never know. Not going to bring the big bucks of a mint gun but it has history and will fill a void in a collection and or possibly shooters collection. I will need a copy of your C&R or a FFL before I can ship. Shipping will be $40.00 insured. Personal checks delay shipping two weeks but are welcome. Make sure to read the Additional Terms of Sale tab.
