Smith & Wesson .32 S&W Long Hand Ejector 5th Change ca 1914 Blue 6 inch Good to Very Good
OUR # HG7986

Item Description

From its home domicile in New England comes this attractive and collectable .32 Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector Revolver, Fifth Engineering Change. From its 153000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1914. The series ranged from number 102501 in 1910 up to 263000 in 1917. Manufacturer was Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA. Type is traditional double and single action small frame revolver. Construction is entirely steel metal with composite synthetic grips. Barrel is 6 inch pencil type tapered surface, pinned into the frame. Bore is 5 groove right hand 1:18.75. Sights are barrel integral half moon blade front sight against a frame integral fixed notch rear sight. Frame is small, ancestor to the J frame, with Round Butt grip frame. Trigger is .225 smooth face service width, with matching serrated spur hammer. Cylinder Capacity is Six Rounds of .32 Smith & Wesson, or .32 S&W Long ammunition, interchangeably. This revolver is Not designed for +P ammo or anything approaching 1000 fps velocity. Ignition is hammer nose type firing pin. Safety system is internal transfer bar. Weight empty is 19 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at mid cylinder, 23 ounce vicinity loaded. Maximum overall length is 10 1/4 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame butt; 4 1/4 inches high, and with a lateral thickness of only 1.3 inches. Finish is polished surface blued steel, with color casehardened trigger and hammer. Magna type diamond pattern cut surface black composite grips are original but damaged on the butt only, as so many early hand ejectors are. Apart from that, surface detractions are moderate, principally toning to the barrel surface and freckling elsewhere. We rate this Hand Ejector as Good Condition, 70 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent 11 pounds vicinity, and it pulls single action at a crisp 5 1/8 pounds. Cylinder times correctly in all five positions on both single and double action. There is no lateral cylinder play whatsoever with the trigger fully depressed. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures .003. Blast effect and carbon to the cylinder face and top strap are minimal, as the photos show. Bore, mechanism, and cylinder chambers are bright and clean. Despite the surface detractions, this is a tight, mechanically well preserved early long barreled small frame Smith & Wesson. We're offering the Titanic era .32 in the photos for only $ 439.00. Not transferable to non C&R civilians in Massachusetts. Transferable to Californians as a Curio and Relic.
