Very fine condition German Luger in 9mm that started out as a DWM Commercial gun in 1920 and was later acquired by the German military early in rearmament. This beauty has an "Su 38" proofmark on the right side of the receiver for a Spandau Arsenal rebuild. Barrel is marked "S/42" on the bottom and has an "eagle 63" proofmark on the top. Gun is serial #7817q with all original matching numbers but the magazine and has several crown "N" proofs. Action is crip and functions fine. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling, shows little use. Metal finish is original blue with a little holster wear and the S/42 marked barrel added at rebuild has a deeper blue finish. Checkered walnut grips are crisp and tight with no cracks or chips, have been on the gun since production. Magazine is correct blued body type with an aluminum bottom that has a nonmatching number and functions fine. A very scarce and desirable Luger from the early Nazi German military rearmament period with the scarce "Su 38" proofmark. This matching gun will make a great addition to a collection or display.
