Very good condition Mauser Broomhandle pistol in 7.63mm that has a WWII German repair depot mark on the right side of the barrel extension "HZa 18". This scarce gun is serial #300088 with all matching numbers but the floorplate and was a WWI German Army issue pistol as the fraktur proofmark is barely visable just in front of the HZa marking. This gun was put thru the repair depot early in the Nazi era rearmament process and probably used by rear echlon troops. Action is crisp and functions fine. Bore is very good and a little gray with average rifling. Metal finish is a military blue that has some wear to gray. Grooved walnut grips are unmarked and later replacements. Pommel still has the lanyard ring and grip is slotted for a shoulder stock. There is limited reference on these Nazi marked Mauser Broomhandle pistols as so few have surfaced. This matching numbered gun with the scarce and desirable HZa marking will make a fine addition to a collection or display.
