Fine, WWII, Springfield M-1 Garand Rifle

This is an original, WWII U.S. M-1 Garand Rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory in April of 1945. It is chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. The rifle retains all WWII parts with no evidence of a post-war rebuild. The rifle has the Battle Bar rear sight and an uncut op rod. All parts are of Springfield manufacture. The stock is a wartime Springfield replacement stock. It has no "P" proof or Inspector's cartouche, but has the small 3/16" ordnance escutcheon on the base of the pistol grip. The barrel is dated "4-45". The rifle is in very good to fine condition. It retains about 95% of its armory parkerized finish. There is a bit of wear on the gas cylinder and the front swivel ferrule. The mechanics are excellent. The trigger group is quite tight in the stock and difficult to remove. The bore is fair to good. The barrel is original to the rifle and there is some pitting towards the muzzle end. It has been well cleaned and polished smooth. The rifling remains visible along its length. The barrel gauges "3" at the muzzle and "3" at the throat. The stock is in fine condition, with just a few tiny dings and scratches from use. The stock is stamped with the number "58" behind the receiver and on the toe. As stated, there is small ordnance escutcheon on the base of the pistol grip, which was only used at Springfield. Included is an original, OD web M-1 Sling. M-1 Rifles with all WWII parts are difficult to find. Here is your chance to own the rifle George Patton called "The Greatest Battle Implement Ever Devised".

We sell these arms as collectibles. While nearly all are in shooting condition, we do not test fire them. We strongly recommend you have a qualified gunsmith check them out before firing.

We are a full time collectible firearm business. These items are offered for sale in our shop and if they sell in the shop we end the auction early. This does happen frequently. Forewarned is forearmed!
