This is a Mako shark jaw (Isurus Oxyrinchus) measuring approximately  14-1/4 inches wide, measured from the left edge of the cartilage across to the right edge of the cartilage.  This mako shark jaw  was imported from Taiwan and obtained from the fishing industry.  It was harvested for food, cleaned, sun dried and whitened in Taiwan.

The teeth are extremely sharp. This jaw will have natural imperfections such as: missing, chipped teeth, cuts and holes in the cartilage and blemishes.

Mako sharks are the fastest of all species of sharks in the world. They can swim at a top speed of 60 miles per hour when they are migrating or hunting for food. Mako shark prefers to consume fish that are found in schools. Primary tuna, herring, and swordfish. Mako sharks average between 6 and 9 feet long, but can reach 12 feet in length and can weigh up to 1,000 pounds.

The photo is a closeup to show detail, making the jaw appear larger than it actually is. This jaw is from a real mako shark and may have an odor. You will receive the jaw pictured.

These mako sharks are not endangered or protected. All of our shark jaws have been cleared for legal entry into the U.S. by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Department and U.S. Customs.
