The mighty Remington Model 7600 Carbine pump-action with an 18.5” barrel debuted in 1987 chambered in .30-06 Springfield and the following year in .35 Whelen. Both were 4+1 guns with four in the quick release detachable box magazine and one more you could load in the chamber. You could get this gun with either a walnut stock or a black synthetic stock.
These pump actions had 18.5” free-floated barrels. The stock had a 13 3/8” length of pull with a slope that went from the 1 11/16” drop at comb down to 2 1/8” drop at heel.
The receiver had an elegant curve across the top that integrated smoothly with the half pistol grip stock. In front, the polished blued barrel was topped by a standard blade ramp front sight and a sliding removable ramp rear sight. Both were removable.
Remington 7600s featured American walnut forends and stocks coupled with blued receiver, barrel, a receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts, adjustable iron sights and a blued finish protecting other key metal components. The semi-curved pistol grip had beautiful checkering within a pennant surround. There’s checkering on the forend too, but it’s in a lower ventral position.
