The Beretta 92FS Inox is a 15+1 capacity single-action/double-action stainless steel 9x19 mm semi-automatic. This pistol is essentially the stainless-steel civilian version of the military’s 92FS (M9). While the 92 FS Inox guns are Made in USA, the parent company Beretta is Italian. Stainless steel in Italian is “acciaio inossidabile”. This shortens to “acciaio inox” or, as Beretta calls it, simply “Inox”. Beretta designed the 92 FS for personal or home defense, recreational shooting and concealed carry.

The 92 is a full-sized gun wrapped around a 4.9” barrel, 1.5” overall width, 5.4” overall height and 8.5” overall length. The long overall length permits a significant 6.1” sight radius. Total width is 33.3 ounces, or just over two pounds.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it’s fairly easy to assume most will agree this handgun is lovely. The clean silhouette and gorgeous proportions are full of rounded corners or cut back facings. The slide, barrel and internal parts are all stainless steel. The frame is anodized alloy that matches the stainless steel looks on the rest of the gun.

The slide is open. This exposes more of the barrel than we’re used to seeing on other guns. This makes for interesting aesthetics, but coupled with Beretta’s short-recoil delayed locking-block system, it also reduces mass leading to faster cycles.

The gun’s front sight is an integrated shark’s fin blade, so it’s also stainless steel. Seemingly, everything else such as the trigger, safeties and buttons are black. The grips are a soft matte gray rubber, and the grip fasteners have a satin finish.

The 92FS offers match-grade precision good enough to place 10-shot groups within a 3” circle at 50 meters.

There is very little to break the semi-automatic’s clean lines. The front grip is without finger recesses though it has vertical serrations. The gun eschews a beavertail safety but the downward curved beavertail helps manage recoil and set up fast reset. The trigger guard is oversized with a convex ventral bulge and a straight front face.

These Berettas have an ambidextrous thumb safety/decocker and a reversible magazine release. The thumb safety reveals a red dot when the gun is in ready to fire mode. Such redundant feedback is so important (and appreciated) for safety.

The grip has a gentle palmswell and ends in a lanyard loop. Beretta designed the gun with a tool-free disassembly latch for very easy cleaning and maintenance. The standard Beretta 92FS Inox comes with the aforementioned 15-round double-stack magazine, but there is also a pair of 10-round magazine equipped models. All three models are Made in USA.
