The Beretta A300 Outlander is a reliable, high-quality, gas-operated, semi-automatic 12-gauge single barrel shotgun built around a 3” chamber and 24”, 26”, 28” and 30” barrel lengths! It features a durable Mobilchoke steel alloy barrel, self-cleaning piston and MC chokes.

Beretta currently has 28 different single-barrel semi-automatics in either full or limited production. But it also makes over and under and side by side shotguns. The semi-automatic single barrel guns fall into four ranges: the personal defense 1301 series, A300, A350 and A400. The A300s are 3” chambered, A350s have 3.5” chambers and the premium A400s have 3” chambers and advanced features that, among other things, permit much faster follow-up shots than the A300s. But for now, back to the A300 Outlander.

The gun is comes apart as four principal components (barrel/gas system, receiver/magazine, forearm) for easy tool-free field maintenance. It also comes with a set of drop and cast spacers to allow you to adjust the gun to your needs and butt pad spacers so you can adjust length of pull from 13” to 14.5”!

The receiver is light aluminum alloy that’s been machined and then given an anodic oxidation protective process. The various other parts are made either of light alloys or steel and are also finished for rust and wear protection. The long elegant dorsal slot on the receiver is designed for Beretta optical bases.

The gun has IC, M and F MobilChoke Victory Choke Tubes. Cresting the barrel is a 6x6 vent rib. The forearm and stock are a rich deep walnut wood while the receiver, barrel, rib, trigger guard, magazine cap are all matte black, but seemingly not much darker, making all the components go together very nicely! Both grip and forearm have attractive and practical checkered areas where the hands will go.

The trigger guard is an oval of heavy duty polymer that’s oversized to accommodate gloved fingers. The trigger is, perhaps surprisingly, silver colored, making it stand out from the rest of the gun. It’s also chrome-plated for rust-proofing. At the front-top of the trigger guard is the round safety button. It is factory set on the right but can be easily swapped over to the left.

The bulging conical magazine nose cap is polymer and evokes a WWII fighter plane propeller cone. The forearm has a tumblehome cross section that is narrow at top below the barrel and then bulges out to fit comfortably and with stability in the hand. The Outlander also features swivel stud mounts in front on the magazine cap and in back.

All this comes in a package weighing just 7.25 pounds. Magazine capacity is either three 2.75” or two 3” shells. Thus the gun is a 3+1 or 2+1 depending on ammunition.

The gun comes standard with the black receiver and walnut forend and stock. However, there are variants such as the A300 Outlander Camo Max4, A300 Outlander Camo Max5, A300 Outlander Sporting and the A300 Outlander Synthetic.
