The H&R 1871 Tamer 20-gauge 20” barrel break-open single shot survival shotgun takes the classic H&R 1871 gun silhouette and modernizes it in profile, material and function. Everything on this gun is tough and rugged. The Tamer’s simplicity of build and operation makes it ideal for all-weather performance. The tough composite stock is matte black high-density polymer for both the simple forend and thumbhole stock. The stock’s thumbhole is beautifully shaped by the integrated perfectly angled pistol grip and even includes an integrated recessed storage compartment for three shells.

Both receiver and barrel look great thanks to their matte nickel-finish. The barrel is topped by a bead front sight, and in front is a fixed Modified choke. Key metrics include a 3” chamber, compact 12 ½” length of pull, 2” drop at comb, 2 ½” drop at heel and 34 ¼” overall length. With portability being paramount, weight is just 6 pounds.

The gun has an ejector. So, break open the gun and the spent casing is automatically ejected.
