The Kel-Tec RDB-C, aka RDB-Hunter, is a 20.5” long barrel downward-ejecting bullpup .223 REM magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle. The RDB-C has an extendable/collapsible stock that slides in and out as needed, a rubber buttpad, a bipod swivel mount below and plenty more. Overall length is 30.4” and unloaded weight comes in at 5 pounds 14 ounces, or just under 6.9 pounds.

Bullpups trade aesthetics for balance. The RBD Survival’s modular architecture with the barrel ending in back and the magazine in back permits even weight distribution, albeit at the expense of anything remotely approaching refined looks. But it also means the gun delivers a good barrel length in a relatively compact package.

Width is 1.8” and height is 4.6”. The .223 REM (5.56x45 mm/5.56 NATO) barrel has a 1 to 7” twist ratio. The 20.5” long barrel’s source material is AISI 4140 steel that’s then given a Salt Bath Nitride QPQ finish.

RDB stands for Rifle Downward-ejecting Bullpup. The Kel-Tec RDB is a lineup of four arms that share most of their components, but vary in details like handguard, grip and sights or lack thereof. The RDB-C and its shorter 16.1” combat RDB-Survival/RDB-S sibling both have the tapered “Hunter” handguard, unlike the more traditional M-LOK handguard the remaining two siblings.

The Kel-Tec relies extensively on weight-reducing polymer, and olive drab is this model’s standard color. Thus the grip, handguard and stock are all olive drab polymer. The grip and handguard also feature nifty rectangular texturing.

The RBD-C is topped by a medium-length MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail that’s ready for scopes (not included).

The adjustable gas system is to the front left of the handguard. It allows operators to adjust to different loads and/or a suppressor.

The cross-bolt safety is at the top of the trigger guard’s rear. The trigger is smooth with little take up and breaks clean with a trigger pull of only 4 to 6 pounds.

The gun comes with a 10-round magazine and is compatible with any STANAG 4173 (AR-15) magazine. The spent casings eject downward from the port that’s just behind the magwell.

The downward ejection is one of several features permitting ambidextrous operation. It also has a reversible operating handle and a nicely placed magazine release/catch.

The Kel-Tec RDB-C bullpup semi-automatic is made by Kel-Tech in Cocoa, Florida, so it’s Made in USA.
