The Kimber Micro 9 Desert Night is a gorgeous 9 mm conceal carry semi-automatic. It has tall Crimson Trace G10 grips with an integrated red laser. The small frame is desert tan while the ejection port, muzzle and recoil spring plug are stainless-steel. Everything else is matte black. This includes the slide, sights, hammer, grips, trigger, mainspring housing, magazine, trigger, buttons and fasteners.

The top to bottom height is 4.07” and length is 6.1”. The gun accepts either 6-round or 7-round single-stack stainless-steel magazines. These have witness holes for counting rounds. The 6-round magazine sits flush in the magwell, while the 7-round one protrudes. But the extra length is nicely designed as it tapers at bottom back while the front is flush with the frontstrap.

Taking advantage of these thin magazines, the Micro 9 Desert Night’s width is only 1.06”. These factors combine to limit empty magazine in gun weight to 15.6 ounces, or just under a pound! Such compact dimensions plus light weight help in so many ways including concealment and portability.

The barrel vaulted steel slide has an elegant matte black finish. The gun comes standard with low profile snag-free white dot sights dovetailed atop the slide. The sight radius between them is 4.3”.

The slide has rear diagonal serrations. As expected, other components such as the loop hammer and the back of the rear sight also have serrations though for the hammer the reason is tactile while for the sight it’s to cut glare. In either case, this points to smart and efficient design.

At just 3.15”, the stainless steel ramped barrel is compact and has a 1 to 16” left-hand twist.

The aluminum frame has a durable and fetching desert tan KimPro finish that’s applied in house. The beavertail is extended, which makes for nice lines on the gun.

The thumb safety, magazine release and slide stop are all on the left. Both the thumb safety and slide stop are nicely beveled.

The trigger guard is curved. Inside it, the solid trigger is smooth and comes with a 7-pound factory setting. Helping manage recoil are a full-length guide rod and a recoil spring rated at 11.5 pounds.

The Micro 9 Desert 9 has no under-muzzle accessory rail. However, it has Lasergrips, which are fetching black G10 grip panels made by Crimson Trace. These grip panels run from the magazine all the way up to the slide. The grip pattern is isosceles triangles. But there’s a neat visual trick: look at them right and they form a pattern of unbroken diamonds. Most importantly, the right panel has an integrated red laser.
