The stunning Nighthawk Chairman M1911-style 10+1 semi-automatic competition pistol is a full-size gun designed around Nighthawk’s 6” gold match-grade barrel that’s visible through lightening ports and hexagonal pattern G10 grip panels. The gun is available in burnt bronze, OD green, flat dark earth, satin, sniper gray and tactical gray. All finishes are Cerakoted for durability and wear resistance.

The Chairman is a heavy, substantial gun with correspondingly large dimensions. It has a Commander-size black nitride finished frame and comes in two calibers, 9 mm and .45 ACP. Overall length is 9.58”, height 5.75”, width 1.25” at the grip, but the slide is .92” wide. Empty weight is 40.9 ounces.

All this aside, the real grabber is the Gold Titanium Nitride barrel. Its gold is visible through a half-dozen racetrack oval lightening ports just behind the muzzle and at the muzzle itself. The ovals are tilted to parallel the three front slide serrations and the five rear serrations. The slide has a fully beveled vault. On top are long linear serrations between the sights that are interrupted only by a long oval lightening port just aft of the front sight and the ejector port. The gold barrel is visible through both these openings too.

It’s important to have excellent sights for a gun like this. The Nighthawk Chairman does not disappoint. In front is a low-profile 18-karat solid gold bead sight. The 1/6” tall gold bead makes target acquisition easier, but it’s also to elicit envy at the shooting range. The rear sight is fully adjustable for height and windage. The sight radius in between them is an expansive 7.42”.

At back of the slide is a skeletonized hammer with a serrated thumb pad. The gun’s beveled slide stop, contoured thumb safety and circular magazine release are only on the left. However, the graceful beavertail grip safety is, of course, ambidextrous.

The black G10 polymer grips are made in Oklahoma by Railscales. They’re a very interesting dimpled hexagon pattern that confers excellent grip. Both the front strap and mainspring housing have 25 LPI (lines per inch) checkering.

The curved trigger is ported and designed for crisp, clean, breaks, but its face is also vertically serrated along the curve and protected by a rounded trigger guard. The firing pin is a .38 Super made of stainless steel.

The 10-round single-stack magazines are well designed with counting holes and polymer base pads, and they slot nicely into the magwell.
