Shiloh Sharps Basics

Shiloh Sharps is a company that puts quality over mass productions. The company, officially named Shiloh Rifle Manufacturing, is a family-owned business in Big Timber, Montana, which started in 1976. The company boasts of its custom designs and care of what it calls the "finest long-range, competition and hunting rifle in the world," all of which are 100-percent American made. Claims of personalization aren't just marketing ploys. In 1996, Shiloh Sharps started its own foundry to cast in-house all the parts for its rifles, from the barrels to the screws that hold everything together. The foundry is located next door to the company's machine shop. Each rifle is made up of 4140 steel and American black walnut wood from Lincoln, Missouri.

Shiloh Sharps Specifications

Shiloh Sharps come in two basic models, the Sharps 1863 percussion rifle and the Sharps 1874 black-powder cartridge rifle (BPCR). Both are produced to different specifications, with single or double triggers, upgraded finish options, and various barrel lengths. The 1863 comes in .50 and .54 calibers. The 1874 comes in 20 calibers: .30-40 Krag, .38-55 Winchester, .40-5011/16 BN, .40-65, .40-65 Win, .40-70 21/4 BN, .40-70 21/2 ST, .40-90 25/8 BN, .40-90 31/4 ST, .44-77 BN, .44-90 BN, .45-70, .45-70 21/10 ST, .45-90 2 4/10 ST, .45-100 2 6/10 ST, .45-110 27/8 ST, .45-120 31/4 ST, .50-70, .50-70 13/4 ST, .50-90 21/2 ST.
