Sig Sauer P938 is a lineup of 6+1 SAO 9 mm concealed carry guns with various models that add cool grips, improved sights, different color finishes, increased capacities up to 7+1 and more. Sig calls these single-action only semi-automatics micro-compacts for good reason. Wrapped around a 3.0” carbon steel barrel are compact dimensions that include a 1.1” width, 3.9” height and a 5.9” overall length. It’s worth noting that in the past, Sig has also made P938s for 22 LR. These differ some in dimensions and had a 10-round capacity.
Of the current stable of 10 production models, the P938 Nitron Micro Compact is as good a place to start as any.
The stainless-steel slide has Sig’s Nitron finish. Nitron is Sig’s name for its black PVD finish. PVD stands for physical vapor deposition. It looks great and makes guns corrosion resistant and more durable. The slide also features 3-dot contrast sights. For durability, they’re made of steel, and between the two is a 4.0” sight radius.
The frame is steel alloy and hard coat anodized. In back is a medium beavertail and an exposed loop hammer. The magazine release and slide stop are on the left, but this micro-compact nicely features small and unobtrusive ambidextrous thumb safeties.
The grips are miniature diamond hatched double-diamonds. They look like the standard double-diamonds, but they are black and made of polymer. Weight is only 16 ounces or 1 pound.
The gun has a standard curved solid trigger and comes standard with one 6-round steel magazine.
Other variants? Sig delivers nine more. Here are a few that all feature 7-round magazines with a finger extension. The P938 SAS Micro-Compact has black rubber grips with finger recesses on the frontstrap and FT Bullseye sights. The P938 Spartan Micro-Compact has a “Distressed Coyote” (think almost FDE) finish, SIGLITE night sights and Spartan helmet inlaid grips. The P938 Legion Micro-Compact has a Legion gray finish, flat trigger and G10 polymer grips. Beyond this there are several other 6-round and 7-round P938 Micro-Compacts from which to choose!
