The single-shot Uberti 1885 High-Wall Rifle, chambered for .45-70, .45-90, and .45-120, has some of the cleanest lines you’ll ever see on a gun. This High Wall Winchester 1885 replica faithfully replicates the original’s straight stock, beautiful color case hardened frame and lever and blued buttplate.

You can get it as a sporting rifle in 30” or 32” lengths, with overall lengths of 47” and 49” respectively. Both guns weigh about 10 pounds.

The glossy blued octagonal barrel, rounded walnut forend and stock that descends straight from the receiver integrate splendidly. Both the forend and grip are nicely checkered. The case hardening process gives the receiver and lever a gorgeous multi-color aged patina.

The Uberti 1885 High-Wall has some pretty cool features. The buttstock hides a cleaning rod that screws apart into five sections. The front has a windage adjustable dovetailed shark’s fin blade sight. In back is a dovetailed open sight. The gun features a beautifully designed “S”-shaped loading lever. Crack open the gun, and it actuates the thick falling block action, ejecting the spent casing.

The “High Wall” moniker honors the tall receiver flanks that, when viewed from the side, partially obscure the hammer. Note: Winchester also made “Low Wall” guns that revealed the hammer normally.

The original guns featured tall Creedmore-style tang sights developed for annual long distance target shooting events that took place in Creedmore, New York through the late 1800s. Yes, it’s that Creedmore that’s bequeathed its name to the 6.5 Creedmore caliber, etc. Uberti sells them as options and not as standard features on the Uberti 1885.
