"A Fine Model 37 with Number 3 Engraving" from Ithaca Book

The Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight, one of the most popular pump-action shotguns of all time, observed its 80th Anniversary in 2017 and a themed pair of Model 37s have been chosen as the 2018 SHOT Show Auction Shotguns.

In a fitting tribute to the Model 37 on its 80th Anniversary , the Ithaca Gun Company,  Hunting Heritage Trust and Baron Engraving have teamed to create a  pair of Model 37s  which celebrate the earliest days of the Model 37 while  celebrating the bottom-ejector’s still-popular appeal.

To memorialize the earliest days of the Model 37, the artisans at Baron Engraving have recreated a 12-gauge with the highest level of engraving available on the Model 37 in the 1930s. The elaborate scroll design and gold-inlayed classic upland and waterfowling scenes are based on 1930’s Ithaca Grade 3 engraving. The engraving patterns are featured in the definitive history of Ithaca, “The Ithaca Gun Company-From the Beginning.” Engraving is also featured on the 28-inch vent-rib barrel.

The 12-gauge features serial number 80MODEL3701.

The second Featherlight in the pair is a hand-engraved and gold-inlayed 20 gauge. This one-of-a-kind 20 gauge features the traditional engraved hunting scenes that have been featured on the Featherlight throughout its 80-year history except on this one-of-a-kind 80th Anniversary tribute the upland hunting scene on the right side of the receiver is hand engraved and shows the retriever and flushing pheasants in 24-carat gold. The left side of the receiver shows the traditional waterfowling scene hand-engraved, with gold-inlayed waterfowl.

The 20 gauge features 26-inch barrel and serial number 80MODEL372001.

Both Model 37 Featherlights feature  AAA fancy American walnut.

“Ithaca has a long and rich history in the annals of United States sporting firearms,” commented company President, Dave Dlubak. “Ithaca’s reputation for quality and reliability made it a popular chose for upland and waterfowl hunters as well as competition shooters such as Annie Oakley and John Phillip Sousa.” “Ithaca fans know that the company has changed hands since the Model 37 was first introduced--and they also know that the present day, Made-in-America, Featherlights are as smooth, reliable and handsome as those from generations ago,” Dlubak said.

The special two-gun SHOT Show auction package includes a like-new edition of the Ithaca reference book, “The Ithaca Gun Company—From the Beginning” signed by author Walter Claude Snyder.

The SHOT Show Auction is an official SHOT Show program, administered for the National Shooting Sports Foundation by the Hunting Heritage Trust.

The funds generated through the Treasures & Traditions auction will benefit the Hunting Heritage Trust. Its mission is to provide support for innovative programs and strategic actions that will help perpetuate America's hunting and shooting sports heritage. The Hunting Heritage Trust is recognized as a 501c3 public charity by the IRS.
