Look for the gold '55 Chevy road sign! ~Trades and offers are always considered~ Desirable & Intriguing Handmade Copy M1847 Colt Walker Dragoon Percussion Revolver Relic, Loaded with Custom Case, .44 Cal. mfg. ca. 1900. This is a very interesting vintage copy of a Colt Walker Dragoon which was purchased as an original by it's previous owner during the 1960's. A contemporary note is included which reads "Colt-Walker Revolver Model 1847 from estate of Raymond Newell, acquired in 1960's from source in Louisiana, gun was found buried in the ground". Any collector will instantly recognize that this is not an authentic Walker however what is of particular interest is that the gun is entirely handmade. Not to be confused with common factory manufactured reproductions, every piece of this gun is hand forged or machined. It is difficult to date the piece yet it was clearly made before Italian replicas were on the market. It may be a gunsmith made copy from the period or perhaps it was made for a collector during the first half of the 20th century. At any rate it is a truly wonderful display piece. The metal has a dark plum/gray patina with heavily scattered pinprick pitting and marring throughout. The brass triggerguard has for the most part turned black. The wood grips show very heavy wear with a dark untouched finish. There is some fine edge chipping around the left handle with a thin chip on the right front toe. The serial numbers, barrel address, and "US / 1847" markings are all appropriately placed however they are hand stamped which is of course not how the originals were marked. Brass blade front sight with correct style loading lever, wedge, hammer, and cylinder. All six chambers are loaded with lead balls. The hammer, cylinder, trigger, and loading lever are all frozen in place and do not move. The bore is very dirty and shows faint traces of rifling remaining. Included is a velvet lined case custom made for this very revolver probably at the time is was acquired in the 60's. For the collector who wants an authentic appearing Walker without having to spend $150,000 or more on an original this is the perfect alternative. A rare chance to own a unique and early copy of Colt's most famous and sought after revolver!
