Was advised of the following about the P17. Makes it history more interesting; This rifle was refurbished/refinished at Augusta Arsenal prior to WW 2. A new barrel was fitted at that time mfg'd by Johnson Automatics. It was used to train troops at Army Camps in order to free up M1 rifles for overseas deployment.

This is a near excellent condition Remington Eddystone P17 WWI US Made Enfield, 30-06 version of the P14 British .303. When the US entered WWI we did not have enough 'o3 Springfields available for our troops so we went to American firearms manufacturers who were producing the P14 for the British and had them produce the P17 for a supplement rifle issue. A great many of our Doughboys were armed with the P17 and its use continued into the early stages of WWII. This rifle is a very nice condition firearm, with a gouge in the stock as noted in the photo. Proof marks are intact, "E" Eddystone stampings on most parts as photographed. Bore is excellent. A top quality rifle to add to your collection. Estate consignment sale.
