This classic seaman's knife allowed the deck hand to cut and splice line, whittle and perform a variety of other shipboard tasks. In very good and complete condition.

This attractive example measures a full 10-1/2 inches in length when fully open not counting the original copper lanyard ring and offers thick slabbed bone grips. All in a pleasing condition with no cracks or condition issues yet showing age and period use. Has a very attractive age patina. Grips are secured to the knife body with four pins.

This bone-handle/grip folding knife features a 3¼” long, single-edged blade, and a 3-1/4” long marlin spike. The blade remains tight with a strong back spring. The makers name is unreadable but the familiar SHEFFIELD remains. There is some minor scattered rust and the tip of the blade is missing.

A rugged working tool that was standard-issue. British imported, naval seaman’s folding pocket knife in use by the U. S. Navy. A great addition to a knife or Civil War collection.
