Up for auction is a good, honest example of a Spanish Astra M1921/Model 400 pistol, chambered for the 9mm Largo (9x23 Bergman) cartridge. This is a military pistol, complete, functional, and in good condition for its age. It comes with 2 original Astra magazines and is C&R eligible too.

In 1919, the War Ministry under King Alfonso XIII of Spain began looking for a new service sidearm. It was to replace old M1908 Bergman pistols, as well as the Campo-Giro Model 1913/1916. Astra-Unceta y Cia SA was selected to produce the new pistol after military trials and testing.
Known as the Astra Model 400 and adopted as the M1921, the pistol fired the same 9mm Bergman/Largo round as Spain's earlier sidearms. It operated as a direct-blowback firearm, with an over built slide and frame made from machined steel. It was quite large, with a 6" long barrel and fullsized grip. It featured both a manual safety and Browning style grip safety. The M1921 was simple, reliable, tough, and durable.
It was quickly adopted by all branches in the Spanish military, and was used by both sides during the nation's civil war. In 1941, impressed with the pistol's performance and quality, Germany purchased 6,000 from Astra. Their use of the M400 would ultimately lead to the development of the M600/43; a variant made specifically to meet German needs.
Between 1921 and 1950, Astra would produce around 106,000 M400 pistols. Beginning in 1946, those in the military would start to be replaced by the Star Model A; however, the process was gradual with many M400s remaining in service well into the 1950s. Then during the late 1950s and 1960s, Spain would declare these guns as surplus, selling many off to Interarms, who then sold them here on the commercial market.

(About This Pistol)
The Astra M1921/M400 up for auction here is a good, honest example of the type. Serials match, all markings are intact, and there isn't a giant billboard style import marking. It retains a good amount of its military blued finish, with only normal wear and no bad rust or pitting. The grips are original and in good shape too. They aren't loose and aren't beatup or show major wear/cracking. Please look at the pictures for yourself also.
The bore is fine, with strong rifling still, a good crown, and is still reasonably shiny for being old milsurp. Its not new condition of course, but should still shoot plenty straight. Mechanically, all parts work as they should. Nothing appears broken or missing. The trigger, grip safety, manual safety, mag catch, etc all work as they should. Seems a good old gun to me.

Pistol comes with 2 original Spanish Astra 8 round magazines. It is C&R eligible and we're happy to ship to any valid FFL-03 holder. If you're looking for one of these for your collection or just to take to the range, this one here shouldn't at all disappoint for the money. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime. Thank you very much, cheers.

(Warranties & Returns)
Most guns sold are sold as 'as-is.' Returns will be allowed if the item received is not the item pictured or described. Please do note that with many 'NIB' weapons I use stock/generic representative photographs, so it would not count as grounds for a return if a new gun is not exactly like the stock photographs. Colouration to the wood or metal could vary slightly even with the exact same models. Most all new weapons have a manufacturer's warranty. If there is a problem, I am happy and willing to help in any way I can to insure that the warranty is honoured by the maker/importer. Your business is greatly appreciated and I want you to have a fully functional firearm.
Used and surplus guns are just that, used and/or have seen military service. I go to great lengths to have detailed descriptions. Please ask questions prior to bidding. I do my best to insure that used guns are mechanically sound and will mention any known flaws in the description, so read it carefully. However, I am not perfect, nor am I a gunsmith. If the buyer does find a problem, I will again do my best to help, but understand again what you have is a used firearm with an unknown history. It is sold without a warranty.

(Local & State Restrictions)
If you live in CA, NY, MA, HI, CT, NJ or any other state with restrictions, please check your laws before bidding. It is Gunbroker's policy that the buyer is responsible for knowing all of his/her state and local laws. I do not know where you live unless you tell me or until after you win the auction. I am not responsible for determining if a weapon is or is not legal for you to own; you are responsible. That said, if a weapon can be made legal to own in your area, I am happy to work with you to modify it to make it so.

Thank you for reading through all the boring stuff. I try to make it as brief as possible.
