The 223 Wylde caliber Alex Pro Firearms Econo Carbine is a compelling, well-balanced gun that packs a rich features into an affordable package that includes a 16” barrel, A2 birdcage muzzle brake.

The Econo Carbine is fundamentally matte black. This includes the different trim parts and fasteners, upper and lower receiver, muzzle brake, trigger, grip and butt stock.

The Econo Carbine has an M16 nitrided bolt carrier group and a carbine-length gas system. These work in conjunction with a 16” long phosphate finished barrel made of 4140 chrome moly alloy. The 1 to 9” twist ratio barrel has a M4 contour and is fronted by an A2 birdcage muzzle brake.

Surrounding the barrel is a short matte black M-LOK slot handguard. The upper receiver has a short Picatinny rail and there are several more slots on the handguard’s forend.

Cantilevered atop the receiver’s rail is a Vortex Strikefire II red dot scope. It mounts using 30 mm rings, has a 4 MOA dot that can be adjusted in .5 MOA increments and has a 30 mm lens diameter with maximum windage and elevation adjustments of 100 MOA for each. The scope only weighs 7.2 ounces.

The Econo Carbine has a single-stage mil-spec trigger. In back is a six-position adjustable mil-spec butt stock.

The standard A2 pistol grip is an inexpensive polymer classic that features checkering on the sides and long vertical serrations at the back. It also has a finger rest on the forward face.

With all this, the Econo Carbine weighs 6.2 pounds.
