Armscor/Rock Island Armory’s Tactical series includes the 3.6” long barreled CS, 4.25” long barrel MS and 5.0” long barrel FS. Here we’ll focus on the M1911 CS Tactical. The CS Tactical pistols include two models: the 8+1 capacity TAC Ultra CS 9 mm and the companion 7+1 capacity TAC Ultra CS .45 ACP. These are full-featured single-stack semi-automatics that, other than capacity and caliber, identical.

The guns have matte-black Parkerized slides and frames. The barrel vaulted slide has no front serrations but medium width diagonal ones in back. It also has a lowered and beveled ejection port. Mounted into the top of the slide are a red fiber-optic dovetail front sight and a Novak-cut LPA MPS1-Type fully adjustable solid steel rear sight.

The TAC Ultra CS series features a triple ported combat trigger with a 4 to 6 pound trigger pull. Moving back, the gun has an elegantly upturned beavertail, a simple loop hammer, an extended ambidextrous thumb safety and the beavertail grip safety.

The slide stop and circular magazine release are both on the left.

Underneath the muzzle is a two-slot Picatinny rail. The trigger guard is a standard oval that leads to the grip. And the grip is flanked by a pair of G10 polymer grip panels that are pitted in front and wavy in back. The left panel cleverly features a prominent indent behind the magazine release.

Base metrics? The six-groove barrel is 3.6” long and has a 1 to 16” twist. Unloaded weight is 2.25 pounds. Length is 7.1”, width 1.3” and height is 5.1”.
