The B&T GHM9 9x19mm semi-automatic sporty carbine has standard, suppressed and compact versions. Would you believe GHM stands for Grasshopper Model? This multipurpose gun has an aluminum upper receiver plus polymer lower receiver architecture that helps keeps weight minimal, engineering simple and the gun reliable and sturdy.
The GHM9 is great for both left-hand and right-hand users. Thus, it includes a folding ambidextrous non-reciprocating charging handle, magazine catch and safety/selector.
The black gun is built to tight tolerances around a closed bolt blow back system. B&T are the initials of Brügger & Thomet, a Swiss company based in extraordinarily beautiful and historical Thun, Switzerland.
B&T does a superb job with modular architecture. To wit, the lower receiver options include one for the company’s own B&T 9mm magazines or a slightly different lower that’s Glock 9mm double-stack magazine compatible. The B&T lower thus works with 10-round, 15-round, 20-round, 25-round and 30-round B&T 9mm mags. The Glock friendly lower works with that company’s 10-round, 15-round, 30-round and other magazines.
The GHM9 SD is the “suppressor device” version of the gun. Use this when you’re plinking to not disturb others next to you. An integrated sound suppressor quiets operations. Special ports in front of the chamber are designed to reduce supersonic ammo to subsonic speeds. The two other models (Standard and Compact) are suppressor ready. A hydraulic buffer in back expedites follow-up shots and helps maintain accuracy, and the bolt stays open after the last round is fired.
The handguard includes four rails or attachment points at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions. The top crests both handguard and receiver and is home to front and back flip up sights. These guns come standard with a skeleton stock, but you can also get a telescoping stock instead. On the bottom is a M4 interface interchangeable pistol grip that has excellent horizontal serrations and a gentle palmswell. It also has a storage compartment.
This Glock lower receiver’s tactical flexibility facilitates logistics and magazine swaps with different types of guns. It also includes a manual, case, sling, cleaning kit and QD front grip.
