The 33+1 capacity B&T semi-automatic carbine SPC9 SD PDW G is an advanced 9x19mm built around a closed bolt blow back system. B&T are the initials of Brügger & Thomet, a Swiss company based in Thun, Switzerland, which is spectacularly flanked by mountains and the Thunersee Lake. SD means this model is suppressed, PDW is short for personal defense weapon, and G is for Glock.

The highly modular and configurable all-black gun is part of B&T’s SPC9 lineup. To make it as universally acceptable as possible, the SPC9’s M4-type lower receiver was engineered for compatibility with Glock 9mm double-stack magazines. It’s also ambidextrous, something both left-hand and right-hand users can all appreciate. Thus, it includes a folding ambidextrous M4/AR-type charging handle, magazine catch and safety/selector.

On the bottom is a M4-type pistol grip that has excellent horizontal serrations and a gentle palmswell. It also has a storage compartment. A hydraulic buffer in back expedites follow-up shots and helps maintain accuracy.

The handguard has NATO Accessory Rails (NARs) at 6 and 12 o’clock positions. The NARs are like MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails but built with metric measures and to tighter tolerances. And then it also includes M-LOK interfaces at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions. The bottom NAR rail has five slots while the top NAR rail is full length extending across the entire receiver top as well. It anchors the Aimpoint Micro T-series primary sight and the flip up emergency sights in front and back.

The ruggedized Aimpoint Micro T-series 2 MOA red dot reflex sight is impressively small! It’s a high-quality component with up to 50,000 hours of operation on a single CR2032 lithium button battery. It has a black, hard anodized non-reflective finish on its aluminum housing and flip-up covers. The red dot sight weighs 4.6 ounces, has 8 daylight vision settings and four night vision settings. It can be submerged at up to 80’ and still work afterwards.

In back is a 4-position upside down L-shaped telescopic shoulder stock with minimal padding, size and weight.

The gun is 2.24” wide, and the barrel is 4.53” long. The integrated suppressor has a crenellated front that looks inspired by the country’s many castles. Overall length ranges from 26.65” down to 21.5” depending on the stock’s extension. Even with the red dot sight and a 30-round magazine, B&T states the height at just 12.2” and weight is 6.5 pounds.

That said, the gun actually comes new with a 33-round mag. However, it’s also compatible with others, such as Glock’s 10-round, 15-round or the aforementioned 30-round magazines. This logistical / tactical flexibility facilitates logistics and magazine swaps with different types of guns. It also includes a manual, case, sling, cleaning kit and QD front grip.
