The Ballistic Advantage 9x19mm 11” Modern Series Barrel AR-type. Ballistic Advantage (BA), founded in 2008 in Ocoee, Florida, is well-known for its superb quality barrels for AR15 and AR10 type guns. It’s so popular that it now makes hundreds of thousands of barrels per year.

BA starts the process using 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium (CrMoV) steel bar stock. It’s then cut to the needed length, drilled, reamed and then button rifled. BA’s sophisticated production methods using custom designed CNC tooling and processes delivers bore uniformity that’s equal to or better than .0003” (or in other words even better than 1/3000th of an inch). That’s match-grade quality. BA says many of its barrels are typically at about 1/6500th of an inch in uniformity throughout the entirety of the bore.

Once the barrel gets to this point, it receives a QPQ corrosion-resistant finish. QPQ is short for “quench polish quench”, which is a tough nitrocarburizing case hardening. The entire manufacturing process is done with extensive quality control.

What emerges is a highly accurate 11” barrel with a 1:10” twist ratio and fronted by 1/2"x28 TPI threads. The straight-profile barrel operates without using a gas block or a gas tube and uses blowback for cycling. It also includes an integrated feed ramp and an integrated barrel extension. The true barrel length includes the barrel extension since it is integrated with the barrel. The result is sub-MOA accuracy, meaning groups of 1” less at 100 yards distance.

This barrel also works with various dedicated 9mm MIL-SPEC uppers. This barrel works with both Colt/RR (Rock River) and Glock-type AR buildouts. Using UZI magazines requires a magwell conversion.

Despite the barrel’s quality and accuracy, it weighs only 18 ounces. These barrels are Made in America.
