The matte black 9x19 mm hammer-fired Beretta 92 Elite LTT Centurion carry/competition semi-automatic wraps extensive thinking, features, styling and technology around a 4.25” barrel. It’s an astonishing 18+1 capacity single-action/double-action package measuring 7.75” long, 5.4” tall and 1.5” wide. Unloaded weight is 31.6 ounces, meaning a tad under two pounds.

This special package isn’t the brainchild of just Beretta, but has been developed jointly with Langdon Tactical Technology, hence the gun’s LTT moniker. LTT is in Gilbert, Arizona. Moreover, it’s made not in Italy, but in Gallatin, Tennessee, about 30 miles northeast of Nashville.

Thanks to its 1911-type proportions and geometry, this Italian-styled gun looks familiar, at least at first. But the differences are also immediately apparent. The most outstanding and eye-catching difference is that this Beretta 92 is topped by a cut-away Vertec/Beretta M9A3 slide that is open to the sky from just behind the front sight all the way to the back of the cut-down ejection port. It reveals the normally mostly hidden barrel in its stainless steel glory. The slide has numerous tightly packed diagonal cocking serrations at front and back. The snout has curved beveling that flares out from front to back.

The gun has a 5.75” sight radius tucked between the red fiber optic front sight and blackout square notched rear sight. Both the sights have glare-cutting horizontal serrations. The rear sight eschews a ramp in favor of vertical surfaces at front and back, permitting one-handed slide operations against a suitable hard surface.

The thumb safety is left-hand only and is mounted just below the sight on the slide and not on the frame as would be the case on an M1911. It reveals a red dot on either side when set to fire mode. Nearby is a skeletonized Elite II hammer.

The barrel has a nice target crown. Under the muzzle is a single-slot Picatinny accessory rail.

The LTT Trigger is stainless steel, and thus stands out beautifully against the rest of the vertical front-faced trigger guard that bulges down and then features a mild undercut. The front-face is not purely vertical, but also has a tactile notch for more intuitive feel. Beyond these differences, the trigger guard and trigger are significantly bigger than on the M1911. In contrast, the grip is narrower front to back and lacks a grip safety. Both these facets potentially make the Beretta friendlier to smaller hands.

The Beretta has an oversized magazine release and a medium-length beavertail.

The grip is 1.3” wide. It’s flanked by ultra-thin VZ/LTT G10 grips. Both these grip panels have deep cut tall diamond checkering, and they’re black, like the rest of the gun. Interestingly, the right grip panel jackets the back of the disassembly latch and the magazine release. And they’re fastened to the frame using stainless steel hex head screws. The frontstrap and curved backstrap are pyramid stippled. At the bottom is a beveled magazine well.

The gun normally has three (3) 18-round magazines. However, it can be had with three 10-round magazines in lieu of the 18-rounders. In either case, they are double-stack, which explains the gun’s high capacity.

The gun is, as already mentioned, matte black. But the finish is actually a Cerakoted over the frame and slide while other parts are NP3 treated.

Beyond the 9x19mm model, there is also a 9x21 IMI model. For so many reasons, the Beretta 92 Elite LTT Centurion carry/competition semi-automatic is magnetically compelling.
