The Black Rain Ordnance AR-15 Pistol – Cold War Grey is a high-end 5.56 NATO AR-type direct impingement semi-automatic Pistol built around a 10.5” barrel and FALLOUT15 billet receiver set. Within its 26” overall length and 5.8-pound weight are also a very nice 10" M-LOK Slim Handguard, KAK SHOCKWAVE 2.0 BLADE and more.

The Cold War Grey color covers the handguard and the upper and lower receivers with an almost distressed look. Of course, that’s the point, and it looks great. Black Rain uses a tough FALLOUT15 billet 7075 T6 Aluminum Upper Receiver paired logically enough to a FALLOUT15 billet 7075 T6 Aluminum Lower Receiver. It’s a good looking, durable set that’s crested by a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail.

The SPEC15 BCG (bolt carrier group) wears a salt nitride bath coating. The gas system uses a low-profile carbine-length non-adjustable gas block.

The barrel is 416R machine-finished stainless-steel and is fronted by an A2 birdcage-style flash hider. It sits in a 10” long, 1.75” interior diameter M-LOK hybrid handguard with two M-LOK slots per flank. Keeping weight down is a clever handguard design with some Picatinny rail slots in front, some in back and ramps down to no slots in the middle. The rear slots integrate nicely with the Picatinny rail atop the upper receiver. The totality provides ample room for accessories.

The rear is brought up by a matte black KAK SHOCKWAVE 2.0 BLADE. The 7.25-ounce high-strength glass-reinforced polymer stock is triangular. The shape is designed to shield the latch and to defend against snagging. It’s backed by a black rubber buttpad. It’s Made in USA.

The trigger guard’s convex ventral surface provides ample room for gloved fingers. It fits neatly between the flared magwell in front of it and a standard GI grip behind. Inside is a standard curved MIL-SPEC GI trigger. It has little play and breaks cleanly.
