The Black Rain Ordnance AR-15 Pistol – Smith Grey Battleworn is a high-end 5.56 NATO AR-type direct impingement semi-automatic arm that uses the FALLOUT15 billet receiver set. These guns are made by Black Rain Ordnance (BRO) of Neosho, Missouri, which started operations in 2009.

The Smith Grey Battleworn color covers the handguard and the upper and lower receivers. Black Rain uses a FALLOUT15 billet 7075 T6 Aluminum Upper Receiver paired logically enough to a FALLOUT15 billet 7075 T6 Aluminum Lower Receiver. It’s a good looking, durable set crested by a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail.

The SPEC15 BCG bolt carrier group is coated using a salt nitride bath. The gas system uses a low-profile non-adjustable carbine-length gas block.

The gun’s overall length is 28”, and it weighs 6 pounds 4 ounces. The barrel is made of 4150 stainless-steel that has a machine finish. It’s 12.5” long and fronted with a Flash Can muzzle device. It sits in a 12” long, 1.75” interior diameter M-LOK hybrid handguard. What’s particularly clever about the handguard is how the top near the muzzle has a Picatinny rail. The middle doesn’t, but then the back sprouts a few more Picatinny rail slots that integrate nicely with the Picatinny rail atop the upper receiver. The totality provides ample room for accessories

The all-black minimalist 6.75-ounce SB Tactical SBA3 Pistol Brace is great. The adjustable nylon strap, 1.8” wide, brace has five positions permitting you to easily adjust length-of-pull up to 2.75”. Inside is a standard curved MIL-SPEC GI trigger. It has little play and breaks cleanly. The grip has texturing on the sides and vertical grip serrations in back. The grip includes an integrated beavertail for increased comfort.
