The Bravo Company Recce 9 QRF MCMR AR-15 semi-automatic is high-tech and compact. It’s a Made in USA .300 AAC Blackout that integrates into a 9” barrel 25” in length a package weighing just 5.4 pounds. This features many alloys, a pistol-length gas system, durability-enhancing protective coatings and more.

Recce 9 QRF MCMR echoes the standard Bravo Company Recce 9 MCMR except it uses the mesmerizing BCMGunfighter QRF handguard. It is precision machined using 6061-T6 aerospace-type aluminum alloy. This alloy is noted for being both lightweight and high strength. The handguard’s profile has also been engineered for additional strength and includes 4 QD sling swivel sockets.

You might have guessed QRF stands for “Quad Rail Free Float Handguard”. The handguard has four long MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails. It’s MIL-A-8625F, Type III, Class 2 hardcoat anodized, which is thicker and stronger than standard anodization. Additionally, it features lasered T-markings on the rail slots to help you easily identify your favorite slots when positioning or repositioning accessories. The four rails give you much more room to position accessories exactly where you want at the expense of about .5 pounds of additional weight at the gun’s front.

The quad rail, upper receiver and lower receiver are each hard coat anodized per Mil-A-8625F, Type III, Class 2. Sounds impressive, but what does that actually mean? The Type III is the thickest type of anodization, with the other two being Type I and Type II. Type I is chromic acid anodizing, and it’s only .0001” thick. Type II uses a sulfuric acid bath. The protective layer is two to six times thicker than Type I and can be colored (e.g. FDE, etc.). Type III is synonymous with “hard coat anodized”. It’s up to 30 times thicker than Type I, can be colored, is harder, thicker and more damage and corrosion resistant. It’s the best of the three types. And Class II means that it is colored (dyed).

The upper receiver is machined from forged 7075-T6 aluminum. The crest Picatinny rail also has lasered T-markings on the rail slots. Inside the upper is Bravo Company’s own BCM Bolt Carrier Group (BCG). It’s machined out of MIL-SPEC Carpenter No. 158 Steel. This steel makes it about 70% stronger than the usual steel and gives it a 1138 MPa (Megapascal) tensile strength. On top of that, the BCG is shot peened which creates a great-looking pocked texture. Moreover, the BCG is high pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected. The carrier and gas key are chrome lined. All this means the BCG will last longer.

The upper is paired with a BCM Lower Receiver; both are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum. The upper receiver has a low shelf for Accuwedge. Accuwedge tightens the connection between the upper and lower receiver to make them feel like they are truly one. It has the standard SAFE and SEMI fire control markings and a an M4 lock nut that’s staked so it doesn’t work itself loose. It also uses a USGI H Buffer (1 USGI Tungsten, 2 Steel).

The gun incorporates a 9” BMC MIL-SPEC 11595E chrome moly vanadium steel barrel that has a manganese phosphate finish and an M4 feed ramp extension. The barrel has a standard government profile. The grooves spiral through the chrome lined bore in a 1 to 7” twist ratio. The chamber is chrome-lined too!

BCM makes and integrates many great components with this gun. It has a BCMGUNFIGHTER charging handle. The barrel is fronted by a nitride treated BCM Mod 1 7.62 Compensator that reduces noise, muzzle rise, flash, and lateral pressure. It’s 5/8”x24 TPI threaded. Under the gun is a black polymer BCM Mod 3 pistol grip has a hinged trap door, nice texturing and has a reduced grip angle for improved ergonomics.

The BCM PNT Trigger gets rave reviews for its feel, polished sear engagement surfaces, smooth rust proof electroless nickel finish that’s impregnated with Teflon to make the trigger even smoother and rust proof. In fact, the PNT name is short for “Polished - Nickel – Teflon”. Finally, the impact resistant polymer BCM Trigger Guard features smooth cornered and ergonomic shapes and contours.
