The Browning Buck Mark Plus Vision Mountain Suppressor Ready .22LR 10+1 single action has little to interrupt its overwhelmingly black features. Little, that is, except a green TRUGLO/Marble Arms fiber-optic front sight, a gold-plated trigger and most of all, three splendid mountain peak cuts into the barrel sleeve. These reveal the inner barrel sleeve’s “robin egg blue” Cerakote finish to marvelous effect. And if the motif isn’t clear enough, Browning splashes a snowcap on each of the three. It also continues the mountain peak motif on the all-black G10 polymer UFX grips.

The Buck Mark Plus Vision Mountain semi-automatic pistol uses straight blow-back, recoil-operated engineering. Though the rimfire Buck Mark series debuted around 1985, this was a 2021 SHOT Show Special offering. The barrel is 5 7/8” long, has 1/2"-28 suppressor-ready threads and is fronted by and a stunning black radial ported muzzle brake. Like other “Vision” models, the gun features a lightweight tensioning aluminum barrel sleeve to encapsulate the narrower diameter inner steel barrel. The brake is removable, of course. The gun’s weight is almost ridiculously minimal at just 27 ounces and is 9 9/10” long overall.

The matte black receiver is CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum. CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control, meaning the machine is computer programmed and works semi-autonomously to make arguably perfect parts including the machined cuts in the barrel sleeve. Using 7075-T6 makes the gun lightweight while keeping it sturdy.

You’ll find a nice pair of matte black sights at front and back. You get a ramped blade TRUGLO/Marble Arms front sight. The fiber-optic tube is green, and the sight is fixed in place. In back is a 16-click per revolution finely and fully adjustable for windage and elevation adjustable white outline Pro-Target rear sight. And just in front of it is a top-mounted MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail. In between front and rear sights is an impressive 8.25" sight radius. All else being equal within reason, the longer the sight radius, the more stable it is, and thus the better it is for accuracy.

Like other .22 semi-automatics, the Browning Buck Mark Plus Vision Mountain Suppressor Ready silhouette has no excess visual or physical bulk. Round contours dominate. Speaking of design, the Picatinny rail slide top, thread protector, trigger’s inner curve, etc., are all serrated for glare-cutting or better grip. The slide even features protruding grip wings behind the serrations to make racking even easier.

The matte black racetrack oval alloy trigger guard has an ergonomic undercut behind it. The ambidextrous magazine release is just above that. The short pull trigger is also alloy, but it is Browning signature gold-plated as is the gold Buck Mark under the trigger guard.

Moving down, the mountain peak motif on the all-black G10 polymer grips with thoroughly sculpted finger grooves look and feel great. They’ve got side finger recesses and nice texturing that should keep everything steady in your hand when you most need it. The grip climbs up to a medium beavertail atop it giving great control, reducing muzzle flip and expediting follow on shots.

The gun has a durable steel 10-round single-stack magazine that a coil-spring instead of the Z-spring you might see in other magazines. The slide locks open after all shots are expended.

Browning includes a thumb safety on the gun’s left side at back aft of the slide release / slide stop. There’s also a clever mechanical magazine safety that prevents the gun from firing when there’s no magazine in the magwell.
