The Browning Citori 725 Trap over/under superposed modern 12-gauge shotgun features a full hinge pin, low-profile engraved receiver, stellar looks, a great feature roster and more. The cut-down, low-profile silver nitrided steel receiver has hammer ejectors and is engraved with a pattern of small ovals. The 2 3/4” long chambers are chrome plated. The wide beavertail finger grooved forearm and Monte Carlo stock are beautiful. They have gloss oil finished Grade III/IV black walnut with 20 LPI checkering, luxurious burls, lines and streaks.

You can get this gun with either a 30” or 32” length barrels. The 30” barrels’ overall length is 48”. With the 32” length barrels, overall length is an imposing 50”. Weight ranges from the 30” barrels’ 8 pounds 7 ounces up 8 pounds 10 ounces for the 32” barrels model.

Now let’s dive into this interesting gun’s details. The steel barrels are polished blued. Each has a relay of small circular venting ports on both flanks starting a few inches behind the muzzle. These ports help offset muzzle rise. The top barrel has ten per side while the bottom one has 14 per side. The upper barrel is crowned by a trap-friendly floating elevated vent rib that runs its length. The elevation prevents the barrels from blocking the view of the clays. Atop it is a green tube HiViz Pro-Comp front sight that’s followed by an ivory mid-bead. And then there’s a mid-rib (side-rib) between the barrels for enhanced barrel cooling.

The 12-gauge uses the Invector-DS flush chokes (full, improved modified and modified). These are Browning’s longest chokes. DS stands for Double Seal; that’s because in addition to the threads, they also have a gas and grit-sealing brass band at their base. They thread onto the muzzle in front instead of at the back like the short Standard Invector and medium-length Invector-Plus tubes. The longer the tube, the longer the taper, and thus the less shot deformation and greater accuracy. The DS tubes are lighter and thinner and require less barrel reinforcement.

Moving back is a textured tang paddle release and serrated sliding safety/selector. And the stock is not just beautiful but superbly contoured with its highly functional Monte Carlo-style raised cheek or an adjustable straight comb. At back is a ventilated trap-style recoil pad. It’s thick, absorbent and comfortable. Speaking of the back, the gun’s length of pull is 14 3/4" while drop at comb is 1 9/16" and the drop at heel is 1 15/16".

What else? The gun features finely detailed matte checkering within pennants on both the forearm and grip. However, it lacks sling swivel studs.

Moving further down, the steel trigger guard is tough, resilient and has an attractive silver nitride finish. Inside is an alloy gold plated serrated trigger. It’s part of Browning’s triple trigger system that provides three trigger positions and three interchangeable trigger shoes.

Of course, there are no magazines, so its capacity is two loads, one per barrel. While Browning is an iconic American brand, it’s actually owned by Belgian FN Herstal. Moreover, the Citori 725 superposed shotguns are made by Miroku Corporation in Japan.
