The BUL Armory SAS II Bullesteros is an ultra-modern flagship M1911 semi-automatic built around high-technology and a 5.7” long barrel chambered for 9 mm, .38 Super and 9x21 mm ammo. It’s named after champion Spanish sport shooter Jorge Ballesteros, though BUL makes a coy play on “bullet” in the gun’s name. The tie-up makes sense as Ballesteros has three world championships, three European championships and 11 Spanish titles to his name.

The SAS II Bullesteros is hand-built with special precision assembly. It stands out from other guns, even its BUL stablemates, with its gorgeous stainless steel pitted hexagon dimpling over its grip and frame. Though the slide and frame are different parts, they go together cohesively. But the hexagons are more than for show. They provide excellent tactile response and control.

The Bullesteros comes standard with a Made in Japan Nikko Stirling Pro T4 Diamond 6 MOA red dot sight anchored to the frame’s left and cantilevered over the slide. The Pro T4 Diamond is waterproof, illuminated, wonderfully bright, shock proof and everything else you’d probably want. The sight sits on an unusual mount that’s also compatible with Vortex Razor and C-MORE RTST sights. The mount has a nice wide diagonal left thumb rest optimized for two-handed firing.

SAS II Bullesteros has a full dust cover that squares off the gun’s muzzle area and further sets it apart from the classic M1911 style. The additional forward weight helps offset upward recoil.

SAS II Bullesteros centers around a match-grade 5.7” long ramped bull barrel that has a titanium nitride finish, which makes it look golden. On top are five pairs of circular lightening ports set into the barrel vault. In front is an attractive golden muzzle brake with one main chamber and two oversized top ports and two more circular lightening ports. The brake also has Jorge Ballesteros’ signature. The result is breathtaking.

The gun has extended ambidextrous thumb safeties at back, an extended upturned beavertail and corresponding grip safety. It also includes an extended, flared magazine well for easy magazine swaps. The magazine release is oversize and on the left.

The gun has been designed to be out of the box ready for IPSC and USPSA competitions. Not surprisingly, trigger pull is very light and is factory-set to just 2.0 pounds. The golden flat-face trigger is wing-pattern ported, and its breaks are clean and crisp.

The SAS II Bullesteros weighs 54.2 ounces. The gun comes with two magazines. BUL Armory started making arms in 1990 and is based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
