The CZ-USA Upland Ultralight over/under shotgun lineup is part of the CZ over/under family. These 26” long barrel, 43.75” overall length guns span 12-gauge and 20-gauge and are identical other than weight.
Upland Ultralights share notable features including an internal aluminum alloy frame and a hollow butt-stock that saves about two pounds weight compared to otherwise similar models, making them easier to lug around for extended lengths of time.
Like the CZ-USA Drake that slots below the Upland Ultralight, the Upland Ultralight has no mid-rib between the two barrels. This absence allows the barrels to cool faster (as there is more surface area), and the barrels can expand and contract independently of one another as well. All have an 6mm flat vent rib. Also like the Drake, the Upland has extractors.
So what are the other key dimensions? Both 12-gauge and 20-gauge have a 3” chamber. Length-of-pull is 14 1/2”. The stock has a 1 1/2” drop at comb and a 2 1/4" drop at heel while overall length is 43.75”. Weight is 6.0 pounds for the 12-gauge and 5.2 pounds for the 20-gauge.
The Upland Ultralight design is nicely thought out and richly featured. There is a good chance it will have all the features you’ll want, appreciate and enjoy.
The guns have laser-cut checkering on the forend and grip and a single-selectable trigger so you can decide which barrel to fire in which order. There’s also a mechanical safety. Both models use Turkish walnut and feature a black anodized receiver and matte black chrome barrels.
The Upland Ultralight design has a tapered forend to make it snag-free. The various models feature five interchangeable chokes (F, IM, M, IC, C).
CZ-USA imports a marvelous bunch of different over/under shotguns. These include the Drake, All Terrain, Reaper, Upland, Redhead, SCTP and Supreme Field. All CZ-USA over/under shotguns utilize CNC machined actions and nice-looking Turkish walnut.
While you might assume CZ-USA’s over/under shotguns hail from the Czech Republic, but they are in fact Made in Turkey. Of course, you already realized that based on hints like the Turkish walnut!
