The Charles Daly 500 side-by-side coach shotgun lineup offers eight break open shotguns. For 2021, the eight models span 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge and .410 bore. They mate 20”, 26” and 28” length barrels to hand oiled checkered wooden forends and stocks. All have SK, IC, M, IM, F choke tubes, albeit of different types.

All 500s feature manual safeties, chokes, single-selective mechanical reset triggers, extractors and hand oiled checkered walnut forend and stock.

Let’s examine them starting with the 20” barrel versions. This pair features blued barrels and white receivers, measure 37.5” overall and are fronted by fixed brass bead front sights. The 12-gauge has 3” chambers and weighs 5.5 pounds. The 20-gauge weighs 5.3 pounds. Both have extractors and Rem Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) choke tubes.

The three 26” barrel models have gloss blued barrels paired to white receivers, brass bead sights and measure 43” overall. Your choices? You can get 20-gauge with a 3” chamber, 28-gauge with a 2.75” chamber or .410 bore. The 20 comes with a Rem Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) and weighs 5.6 pounds. The 28-gauge weighs 5.4 pounds and comes with a Beretta/Benelli Mobil Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) choke set. The .410 weighs 4.3 pounds and features a Beretta/Benelli Mobil Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) choke set.

Charles Daly also offers two .410 bore 28” barrel models. They’re essentially the same except one has a black engraved receiver while the other has gold highlights in its engraving, gold-plated trigger, etc. Their wood is beautiful though Charles Daly doesn’t specify the grade. It seems at least to be the Grade III/IV quality used by other competitors and has very nice lines and grain. They have double triggers and weigh 4.4 pounds each. Both have brass bead sights, Beretta/Benelli Mobil Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) choke tubes and measure 43.75 overall. Length of pull (LOP) is 14.375” though the distance is only 13.5” to the rear trigger. Drop at comb is 1.5” while drop at heel is 2.5”. Overall length is 43.25”.

The final model is the 12-gauge 28” barrel model. It’s largely like the above models except it has the white receiver and gloss blued barrel, is 45” overall and weighs 5.6 pounds. It has the Rem Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) choke tubes.
