The Colt 1911 Classic semi-auto merits a “classic” rubric like few others. It’s available in 9+1 capacity 38 Super and 7+1 .45 ACP. This modern remake of the original 5” barrel 1911 Government brings a timeless design up to date with the latest in manufacturing quality and control and a few updates applied to earlier 1911 semi-autos along the way.

To wit, this single action only (SAO) Colt 1911 includes the Series 70 firing system, roll markings along the left slide and tightly regimented vertical slide serrations at back. It has a beautifully made high quality National Match barrel. The hammer is spurred. This gun has white dot sights, of which the front sight is staked, and the rear sight is dovetailed. In between, you get a 6.5” sight radius.

Both the elegant steel slide and purposeful frame are blued. In back, you have the ergonomically wonderful ambidextrous manual safety. Flanking the grip are double diamond checkered black cherry G10 polymer grips. Everything is as you envision on an M1911, or at least the way you think it should be. So, the grips, while G10 polymer, have the “diamond” (arrowhead, really) flathead fastening screw surrounds. All touch surfaces like the magazine release, slide release and thumb safety have nice texturing.

The single-stack magazines bear witness holes making counting what you have in them quick and easy.
