The Colt Gold Cup Lite is a competition M1911 from the company that invented it. The Gold Cup Lite is a full-size Government gun that weighs 38 ounces and is 8.5” long overall. It’s based on the 5” National Match barrel. The slide and steel frame use a brushed stainless steel finish, a fiber optic front sight, adjustable Bomar rear sight, triple ported trigger and fabulous blue G10 polymer grips.

You can get the Gold Cup Lite in any of three chamberings: 8+1 .45 ACP, 9+1 9 mm or 9+1 .38 Special.

There is little high-tech or intrinsically fancy about this lineup. Instead, the gun seems wholly familiar and focused on quality. The Gold Cup Lite uses Colt’s Series 70 firing system. The finish is sublime. The slide has forward facing diagonal serrations at rear and a loop hammer too.

These guns have a beautifully upturned beavertail. They have the grip safety and solid triple ported curved trigger in the standard racetrack oval trigger guard. Just behind it are finger recesses on the grip. The trigger has vertical serrations across its surface.

Other primary controls are on the left: thus the thumb safety, slide stop and magazine release are all on the left. The frame has a flat mainspring housing that leads to a sharp corner.

Except that they’re fabricated of blue G10 polymer, the grip panels are classically styled double-diamond checkered types fastened by flat head screws in the double-diamonds.
