The Colt M1911 Special Combat Government is a hand-crafted single-action .45 ACP 8+1 capacity semi-automatic pistol optimized for superior feel and functionality. This high-performance version has a lowered and beveled ejection port along the side, an ambidextrous thumb safety at the back of the slide, a loop hammer, curved beavertail and a correspondingly contoured beavertail grip safety. Moving down, it has a triple-ported curved aluminum speed trigger that looks great.

Speaking of looks, the blued slide is made of carbon steel while the frame has a matte stainless appearing PVD finish. The Government moniker refers to the gun’s size, meaning it has a 5” barrel and an overall length of 8.5”.

Mounted atop the slide are a Heinie front sight and a low-profile Bomar parcel shelf sight at rear. Such shelf sights cantilever off the dovetail so the notch sight sits further back than on more conventional sights. The result? A longer sight radius and thus increased accuracy, all else being equal.

The trigger is in the standard racetrack oval trigger guard and just behind it are finger recesses on the grip. The slide stop and magazine release are both on the gun’s left.

This gun has the classic double-diamond checkered rosewood grips fastened by flat head screws and weighs 39 ounces.
