EAA’s MC28 SA (sometimes written MC28SA) is a high-capacity striker-fired single action 9 mm pistol. EAA labels it as full-sized, and it holds a 15-round magazine making the gun a 15+1. Full-size labeling aside, the barrel is 4.25” long, the gun is 1.2” wide by 6.75” tall, overall length is 7.6” and thanks largely to its polymer frame, weight is just 1.8 pounds.

The package isn’t fancy, but it’s affordable. Really affordable. Even brand new, and even more so as a used gun. The gun is versatile and good for applications such as home defense, recreational shooting, etc.

The MC28 SA’s high grip low profile polymer frame makes it a pleasure to behold and hold. But more than that, it’s also thoughtfully designed. To wit, it has low profile three-dot combat sights. The front sight enjoys a shark’s fin profile while rear sight uses a Novak-cut.

The slide is cut back across the front half. It has the tiniest trio of grip serrations at the bottom in front and a nice collection of deep cut medium width full length ones in back. A nice touch is their rounded bottoms.

There is a three slot MIL-SPEC 1913 Picatinny rail under the recoil spring housing. There are three interchangeable backstrap grips. Thus, three different palm swells for three different sizes of hands.

The high grip leads to a medium length beavertail for excellent control. And there is a standard safety trigger and a firing block, both of which make accidentally discharging the gun difficult. There is also a red cocking indicator at the back of the slide providing a nice visual cue.

Perhaps following the lead of some competitors, the front grip is straight, but it still leads up to a deep undercut at the back of the trigger guard, and the grip has horizontal ridging in both front and back.

The magazine release is reversible, but all other sided controls are on the left. The gun has three standard color choices: matte dark earth (DE), matte black and two tone, which puts a stainless slide on a matte black frame.

The EAA MC28 SA is imported by Cocoa, Florida-based European American Armory Corporation (EAA). However, this fine semi-automatic is actually Made in Turkey by Girsan. The Turkish company has been operating since 1993 in the Black Sea city of Giresun in northeastern Turkey.
